kite+key is a brand new technology store on campus that opened spring 2019 and is located in the corner of the Campus Center.

The name kite+key comes from the infamous lightning experiment conducted by Benjamin Franklin, along with his son William, utilizing a kite and key in 1752. kite+key, Rutgers Tech Store, is named for their tools of invention and discovery.

They have a wide variety of products, from chargers, speakers, and USBs to MacBooks and Airpods!

They also have some awesome academic discounts.

Everyday pricing is Apple Education Pricing. That means as student, faculty, staff, or alumni of Rutgers, your pricing will always be lower than stated at the Apple Retail store. We also pass along all student discounts provided by all of our distributors.

Along with discounts, they have a crazy commuter rewards program that you’d be wild not to take advantage of. If you take any form of public transportation to school (e.g., PATCO or Riverline), kite+key will provide you with gift cards based on how much money you spend per month! Go to your App Store and search “kite key.”

Once you download the app and log-in, you will see a button for Commuter Rewards at the bottom of the screen. Get your RUID, transit pass, and form of transaction history (receipts or online card history) and take pictures of them! You then submit those pictures in their proper homes. After each submission, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that your submission has been received. It goes through review and then you will receive another e-mail when you can pick up your gift card! kite+key gift cards are good for any kite+key product and you can save up to buy whatever you like!

Whenever you’re ready to make your first purchase, kite+key is open from Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (they are closed on Sunday).
