Cheap Spring Activities

Cheap Spring Activities

Spring is a time of year both loved and dreaded. While many dread it because of incoming allergies, it’s also when the weather gets warmer and provides a much-needed boost to everyone’s mood! Despite the allergies that come along with it, it’s important to get out and enjoy all the opportunities the Spring season has to offer! Do you need some ideas for some spring fun? Here are a couple of activities that you can do!

  1. Tulip picking

South Jersey is riddled with farms, so that means picking fruits and vegetables as well as flowers is easy to come by! Try out Dalton Farms! They always have something going on such as music, food trucks, or even yoga! Not only can you have fun there, but you don’t have to worry about your pockets hurting afterward. Plus, you get some great photos while spending some time with your friends and family!

  1. Watch the sunset at the Waterfront

Camden provides views that nowhere else can! Grab a couple of friends and a picnic basket and head down to the Waterfront. The Waterfront is located a couple of blocks away from the soccer fields and right near the Adventure Aquarium! It provides you with a view of the Delaware River and the Philadelphia skyline. It is honestly the best view even when the sun isn’t setting. For an even better experience, watch the sunset from the Ben Franklin Bridge! The bridge has a walkway for pedestrians, you can watch the sunset over the Delaware River!

  1. Go to a concert!

Now, you might be thinking how in the world can you afford a concert ticket when you can barely afford a milkshake from McDonald’s? Trust me I feel you, but you are a student and student discounts are everywhere, you just have to look! In this case, you don’t have to look too far because you can buy discounted concert tickets to BB&T Pavilion at the Impact Booth located in the Campus Center. Their tickets are incredibly cheap. Plus, you don’t have to pay for parking because our campus is only 3 blocks away!

If concerts are not your thing, then you can get tickets for other events. The Impact Booth has a wide variety of tickets you can choose from. In the past, they have had tickets for the Renaissance fair, Magic Gardens, Six Flags, Adventure Aquarium, etc. The options are endless!

  1. Go to a baseball game

It’s that time of year when sports are finally back outside without you freezing on the sidelines, so why not enjoy it? Here at Rutgers-Camden, we have our very own baseball team that you can come to watch. Their schedule can be found on the athletics site. We also have softball that you can come out to watch as well! These sporting events are free to all current students at Rutgers-Camden.

  1. Free Festivals!

Did you know that we are the closest university to the Liberty Bell? That is how close we are to Philadelphia! And you know what that means? That you have easy access to all the events that Philadelphia has to offer like their Spring Festivals. Most festivals are free to enter, so all you have to worry about is the transportation fees (which are not bad at all when taking the PATCO). Some festivals are the Shofuso Cherry Blossom Festival and the South Street Spring Festival. So, head on over and have a good time!

I know allergies are on the rise for the spring season, especially with how the weather has been recently, but these activities can get you out of the house we’ve all been cocooned in for these past winter months. I hope these ideas help you get started on making this spring one to remember. Have a great spring Scarlet Raptors!
