Mason is from Delanco, New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers—Camden with his B.A. and M.A. in English. As an undergraduate commuter student, he was in the Honors College, served as president of the Campus Activities Board, and became a founding member of the Mu Tau chapter of Phi Mu Delta. He worked in the IMPACT Booth and the Office of New Student Programs. His academic focus is in children’s and adolescent literature, which has been influenced and shaped by feminist work and gender studies. After teaching English Composition for two years at Rutgers—Camden while earning his Master’s degree, Mason pursued an opportunity in Enrollment Management to work as a Communications Associate. He loves working with students because he gets to see them grow into professionals while, importantly, learning about themselves.
Rutgers—Camden has shaped my identity in so many ways. The campus is part of who I am, but it has also affected the way that I view the world. And that’s the magic of this place. I see myself at home in this welcoming environment that has given me the tools and confidence to, then, turn my gaze outward to the rest of the world. Because I experienced what it truly means to be a part of a learning community, I can take that education to others areas of my life.
