Resources to Use On Campus

Resources to Use On Campus

Edit: While all campus services have transitioned to primarily virtual operation, all of our campus resources are still available to students. Please follow the links provided to find more information specific to each office, department, and student support service.

Whatever it is you need in regard to your classes or Rutgers in general, there’s an office on campus that is able to help you. As a nursing student who has needed help getting through some tough courses, as well as an ambassador who gives tours and also works in the admissions office, I’ve gotten to know my way around campus pretty well.

The Paul Robeson Library has group study rooms, which you are able to reserve either on the first floor at the kiosk, or on the The Paul Robeson Library website. Reservations are in one-hour blocks, and you’re allowed up to two per day. During finals week, my friends and I would all put our names in to reserve and have a room for the entire day! The librarians on campus are great as well. If you need help finding sources for a research paper, or need a specific book for a class, they are there ready to help you, too.

The Learning Center is a place on campus that offers free tutoring. That’s right, FREE! Tutoring is offered for many classes on campus, and is able to be accessed through Raptor Connect.  Tutors are students who did well in the class, and they’re there to help you through material and answer any questions you may have. There’s even an option for online tutoring! If you need assistance with writing, the Writing & Design Lab offers one on one support.

Another resource that is available is professor’s office hours. Every professor on campus has office hours once or twice a week. This is a great opportunity to sit down one-on-one with your professor, ask any questions you may have, and if it’s a bigger class, give them a face to put with your name. If I’m in lecture and feel confused about a topic or assignment, sending your professor an email or sitting down with them during office hours makes a world of difference!

The One Stop Student Services Center is another great resource on campus. They’re there to answer any questions you may have about financial aid, cashiering, student records, parking, and more.

If you’re someone who is looking to get a head start on preparing for your career or looking for a part-time job while you’re in school, then you’d want to head to the Career Center! Here, they’re able to work with you on your resume and practice for interviews, as well as host workshops and help you to network.

The last place I’ll mention is the Impact Booth. You’ll walk past the Impact Booth every time you’re in the Campus Center (and for someone like me who’s at Starbucks more times throughout the week than they’re proud of, it’s many times). The Impact Booth is centrally located, and they’re able to answer questions about a lot of different things on campus. If they’re not able to answer a specific question, chances are they’ll know where to send you!

There are SO many great resources to use on campus, and you’ll discover more and more of them the longer you’re at Rutgers!
