Where to Get Food Near Campus

Update: Due to financial difficulties and mandated guidelines as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, some of these establishments may be temporarily or permanently closed at the time of this post’s publication.

I have lived on campus for 2 years now and I plan on living on campus again for the next upcoming academic year. In the Fall 2019 semester, we opened our newly renovated Dining Hall with a new food vendor. We now have many more option such as the All You Care To Eat Section. If you are looking to treat yourself a little and want to eat out, then there are a lot of other food options near campus. Our Rutgers Camden Campus is home to a melting pot of places to eat.

  1. Latin America is a restaurant specializing in Spanish food and is located a block away from the Nursing Building. They have basic tacos, burritos, and quesadillas and combo platters of Spanish rice, grilled chicken, beans and plantains.
  2. Victor’s Pub is your classic Bar and Grille with all the American classics such as burgers, wings and fries to other options such as quesadillas. It is a great option for late night eats on campus because it doesn’t close until 2am. It is also a cool place to have a nice lunch by the Camden Waterfront.
  3. The Halal Food Trucks on campus are some  of the busiest places on campus during free period. It has all your halal cravings such as chicken over rice with the signature white and red sauce. There is also a halal food truck by the campus center and another halal food truck by the law building. You can choose your favorite!
  4. Friend’s Cafe is located behind the Business and Science Building. It is an Asian Fusion restaurant which serves its food in a bowl. You can get your Ramen fix or your spicy chicken bowl or your beef bulgogi bowl. You can also upgrade your bowl with their yummy fried dumplings for $1!
  5. Being so close to Philadelphia, restaurants in Philly are at your disposal! A round trip PATCO train to 8th and Market is only about $2.00. All the restaurants in Center City, Penn’s Landing, South Street and Chinatown are at your disposal. I have even managed to have lunch in Philly and be back in time for my afternoon class. You can go to Philly for countless other options or cravings you might have.
