Exploring Life Off-Campus

Exploring Life Off-Campus

By Trinity Miskelly

Rutgers University—Camden is not only a place for academics, but it’s also a vibrant community that extends beyond the classroom. In this blog post, we will dive into the exciting experiences that await off campus. With our campus nestled in the heart of Camden, there are many spots that help students feel connected to the city’s rich history and diverse culture. From charming cafes and restaurants to sites as popular as an aquarium, the neighborhoods surrounding campus offer a plethora of experiences to be explored.

When it comes to good food on campus, a fan favorite is the Lunchbox, located just a short walk from the university’s nursing building. The lunch box features sandwiches, salads and sides while also offering vegetarian options. The welcoming staff environment along with their delicious food and outdoors location really makes this such a fun lunch spot. For those of us who enjoy deserts and doing homework while we snack, the Nuanced Cafe is the place to be. Yummy scones and freshly made smoothies and coffees are on the menu. The warm, cozy environment makes it the perfect place to meet up with friends for a study session.

If you’re someone who’s interested in the outdoors, the Camden Waterfront offers a beautiful backdrop for activities. You can take a stroll by the water, lounge in the grass fields and take a break from your studies. While we’re on the topic of the waterfront, the Camden Adventure Aquarium is just a twelve minute walk from campus. As a student, the option to receive discounted tickets is available! The aquarium features tons of different activities and animals to see and is fun for all age groups.

Life off-campus at Rutgers University—Camden offers a chance to immerse yourself in a vibrant community and explore different cultures. While taking part in your studies here at Rutgers-Camden, make sure to enjoy the community and its many activities. Academics are undoubtedly a priority, but taking advantage of your time in college should also include exploring outside of your classroom.
