If there’s one thing a lot of students on this campus will readily agree to, it’s that it’s very easy to get involved in clubs and organizations on campus. All it takes is the simple effort of showing up to a general body meeting of a club you like and that will be the start of your story to tell!

Personally, when I started school, I lived on campus and I came across a club called the Residence Hall Association (RHA). It aligned with my interests and gave me the opportunity to come up with event ideas for students living on campus. So, I joined. Within a semester’s time I ended up going to a conference in Philadelphia on behalf of the club! RHA sparked my interest in getting even more involved and I ended up joining the Campus Activities Board (CAB). CAB also involved planning and organizing events but for all of the students. Just like that, I was headed to another conference, this time in Buffalo, New York on behalf of CAB. RHA proved to be a gateway for me to get involved in more than just one club. After joining the CAB my sophomore year, I became a student manager for the Rutgers Men’s Soccer Team. Later, my roommates, some friends, and I founded Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity on campus. Going into my junior year, in addition to my participation with RHA, CBA, the soccer team, and the fraternity, I was a part of West Indian – Indian Connection and the Management Association.

Getting involved is easy—but so is spreading yourself thin. If I’m being honest, I did spread myself a little too thin by getting involved in so many clubs and organizations. I was stacking up my resume but, in reality, it did take a toll on me. I realized that I was pressured to micromanage my time, since I had to make time for all of these activities (on top of taking an ample amount of classes each semester).

The school environment makes it so easy for those interested in joining clubs and organizations to do so, allowing them to make the most out of themselves and what the school has to offer. Just be sure not to spread yourself too thin.

So, when you get here, make an effort to get involved! There are over 100 clubs and organizations to choose from. Think about what interests you and find a club to match your interests. Interested in photography? Check out our photography clubs. There are clubs for your career, like the Pre-Vet club, and clubs for your religion.

If you don’t find a club you want to join, you can start your own, which is almost as easy as joining one! Happy hunting!
