5 Hotspots to Study or Hangout At on Campus!

5 Hotspots to Study or Hangout At on Campus!

Whether you are waiting for your next class or you’re done with your classes for the day and you don’t want to go back to your dorm or home, there are some great spots on campus you can go alone or with friends. I personally have frequented all these places many times since I have been going to Rutgers. I wanted to be able to share these with you and hope you find a new spot to hang out!

  1. Johnson Park. This is a beautiful park close to the Residence hall and the Digital Commons building. It is a great place to lay down a blanket and spend time hanging out with friends catching some sun or opening some books and catching up on a lecture. Also, sometimes there are community events hosted at this park and during the summertime there are free yoga classes during the week.
  2. The Writer’s House. This building is on your way to Cooper Street, if you see the Chancellor’s building you’ve gone too far! Some students may have classes here, but many do not. No fear, this building has a couple rooms that are excellent to study in or have lunch with friends. Any student can enter; you may just need to swipe in with your Rutgers ID card.
  3. Raptor Roost. You may know of the Scarlet Lounge, located off to the right when you walk into the Campus Center, but there is another small lounge when you walk down the stairs. Off to the right of the stairs, there is the Raptor Roost. It is a small room with couches and high tables. You may see events hosted there, but most of the time it is free for students to hang out and catch up on some work.
  4. Library Study rooms. You are able to book a study room for up to 2 hours. They are free to reserve and are excellent to complete work in or gather a couple of buddies to work with. The study rooms are located on the second floor of the library, but there is one located in the basement of the library. Study rooms can hold 6-10 people depending on the size and you can even hook up your computer to the monitor that is inside.
  5. Law Building — Connector Bridge (second floor). You may know of the law building and even may pass by this spot I am about to mention. The overpass, which is the connector bridge, is actually a great spot to sit at. You get a nice view and there are plenty of couches if you want to relax and tables if you want to finish some homework. Any student has access to the law building, you just have to flash your Rutgers ID.
