I am a junior, double majoring in Finance and Business Management with a minor in Human Resources. I love being involved in multiple organizations on campus. Currently, I am the Treasurer for the Student Government Association, South Asian Appreciation for Tradition and Heritage (SAATH), and Beta Alpha Psi. Additionally, I a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity, Raptor Ambassador, Business Leaders Development Program (BLDP), and Honors College.
I chose Rutgers—Camden because:
1. Small Campus size: The average class size is small (about 20-30 students) and so I get more one-on-one attention with the professors. Because of the smaller sizes, now I had the opportunity to meet the professors after class for any questions related to class or to their area of expertise. Additionally, during my campus visit, I observed how tight-knit the students on campus seemed. This was a plus for me as I had been looking for a feeling of belonging in the place where I would spend the majority of my time for, at least, the next 4 years.
2. Financial Aid: One of my goals for college was to finish my education with the minimum amount of debt. Rutgers—Camden offered me several different scholarships which have helped me a lot in terms of my cost of education.
3. Connectivity: Because of its prime location, the campus is connected via train and bus transportation system. Because of this, it makes my commute to school a lot easier as I do not have to drive to campus every day and can just hop onto the PATCO to come to school.
4. Connections: Because of Rutgers’ name and history, it has great connections with big corporations which is essential for me as a business student to get internships as well as different job opportunities.
When I started here, I came in as a Business Management major wanting to pursue a career in international business. But later on, as I attended different networking events on campus, talked to different students in my school, and attended my first ever finance class, I fell in love with Finance and decided to pursue a Finance major. I also kept my management major as it would broaden my knowledge in the business field and would only require a few extra classes. Later on, I added a Human Resources minor so that I can use that knowledge in the future when I am in a management role.
After graduating, I plan to work as a Financial Analyst in the investment banking sector and continue my journey from there.
Although my journey at Rutgers—Camden had its ups and downs, I am glad to have chosen Rutgers—Camden as my home.
