It’s the time of the year when students are full of feelings of apprehension, running off a few cups of coffee, pushing the clock to lock in information, and making a final effort in courses. You guessed it; finals week is quickly approaching. As finals week rapidly races toward us, I wish all my fellow college students well. I would also like to remind you to take time for yourself through this hectic time, rest your mind, and practice self-care. Considering all the studying students will be partaking in soon, here are the best places to study on the Rutgers-Camden campus.
1. Digital Commons
The Digital Commons is located behind 215 Towers and Apartment residence halls. This building is usually very quiet and has little to no people inside. This location offers classrooms that are open for use when empty, and whiteboards that can be rolled over to tables and chairs for studying and review.
2. Study Room/Silent Area at Paul Robeson Library
The study rooms are available for reservation for two hours at a time. Study rooms are nice private rooms that filter out any noise in the surrounding open library. Study rooms are often booked fast, so a tip is to book a day before intended use to ensure you get the time slot you want. During finals week, book ahead of time! It is so worth it because of the quiet space, comfortable seating, whiteboard, and TV that are available for use.
3. Fine Arts Building
The Fine Arts Building is full of classrooms. If you need a quiet place to study, you can use these rooms in-between their scheduled classes. You check when classes are scheduled by looking at the screen outside of the classroom door. That screen displays when classes are scheduled to use the space, and if there are none it’s a great place to study and get work done!
4. Residence Hall Lounges
For students who live on campus, the lounges in 215 Residence Halls are great for studying. For commuter students, if you want to study in a group with a resident, this space is available to you as well. This space has a very relaxed vibe and includes comfy couches, chairs, desks, and chalkboards. It provides a space that conveys feelings of “home”, which is a key component to an effective studying environment.
5. Law Library
The Law building houses the Law Library which is open to all students. The Law library is typically very quiet and has plenty of workspaces for students. Students often forget about the Law Library or feel they cannot use it because they are not law students. However, the Law Library is an amazing quiet space for studying open to all who need it!
This concludes my Top Five places to study on the Rutgers University-Camden campus. Regardless of what spot you choose to study and prepare for exams, I am sure that everyone can achieve great results. We are almost at the end of the semester, so finish strong and study hard! Go Raptors!
