To Our Raptor Ambassadors

To Our Raptor Ambassadors

When visitors and prospective students come to Rutgers—Camden, our Raptor Ambassadors have the opportunity to make a big impact. They have a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed, included, and excited for the college journey ahead.

I started my journey at Rutgers—Camden in Spring 2019 when I began my graduate study. I completed my undergraduate degree at Rutgers—New Brunswick, so coming to Camden was familiar in some ways and very new in others. I instantly recognized the strong sense of community that Rutgers—Camden has. Everywhere you look students are engaged with each other, the professors truly care, and every time you walk through campus you see familiar smiling faces. When I started working in the admissions department I got to meet and work with some of those bright smiling students that make Rutgers—Camden so wonderful.

When I took over the supervision of our Raptor Ambassador program, I was instantly impressed by our student leaders. They are extremely bright and passionate students, eager to work hard and give back to their Rutgers community. They are friendly and confident, watching them engage with new and prospective students and families has been a joy. Our Ambassadors are able to make connections everywhere they go. They welcome new students and visitors to our campus just the way they welcomed me as part of their team — with open hearts and boundless enthusiasm.

Now, six members of our leadership team and many more of our wonderful volunteers are graduating this semester . The Ambassador program has given them valuable communication and leadership skills. Their contributions to our admissions team and the university as a whole cannot be understated. There is no doubt in my mind they will all go on to do amazing things in this world with all the same excitement and personality that they have brought to our program and our campus. We will miss them all dearly and wish them nothing but the best for the future! Don’t forget to come back and visit!

Congratulations and best wishes to our graduating ambassadors!!

“Being a part of the Raptor Ambassador program for all 4 years of my college career has been so beneficial. As a shy freshman, going the program forced me to get out of my shell and become more outgoing and outspoken. The program has provided me with so many amazing opportunities such as working in the admissions office and developing my leadership skills. I have also got to spread my love for the campus to incoming students which has been so much fun. Besides all of the skills I left with I am also leaving with some of my best friends that I have made through the program as well as so many professional networks I made connections with throughout all of the events and programs. The Raptor Ambassador program grew to be my second family and will remain one of my most cherished memories from my time at Rutgers.”

“Hi my name is Grace. I have been part of the Raptor Ambassador Program for two years and it has been an unforgettable two years. I honestly wish I joined sooner. It has taught me so many invaluable skills and brought me out of my shell. Before I would have a difficult time with public speaking, but now it is so easy for me to talk in front of large crowds due to panels and giving tours. Also, I met so many new people and made long-lasting friendships! This program has given me an opportunity to be part of leadership team to guide others and learn how to not only be a leader, but a team player as well. I had so much friend working with my fellow leaders and ambassadors and this experience has definitely shaped who I am.  I hope more students decide to become an ambassador and have as wonderful experience as I have.”

It also gave me the opportunity get to meet some amazing coworkers that will turned into lifelong friends. Rutgers gave me so many opportunities between research experience and relationships with my professors. I will forever be grateful for my time spent and Rutgers and can’t wait to start the next chapter in my life!”

“Joining the Raptor Ambassador program has definitely been one of my best decisions that I made in college. This program gave me a plethora of opportunities and connections that I would not have gotten otherwise. It is incredible to see the power and influence that I hold as an ambassador for this campus. To the outside world, as an ambassador, I am what the school represents. This program has shaped me to be professional in my approach, adapt to various unforeseen situations, and fight against the odds. The most rewarding part of my Ambassador role is when I see prospective students join Rutgers – Camden because of their experience with me. Even though I have been a part of this program for only three years, it feels like I belonged here from the start of my time. I have made great friends and great connections, something that I will always cherish for the rest of my life!”
